Your role as a trainer :

In order to run a good session, the soccer trainer has to be enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated. Encourage and motivate your players : your session will be much better.

To be effective, you also have to :

      - explain : present the exercises and games and to be sure that players understood (through feed-back)

      - demonstrate : dissect the form. Showing several times ; asking a good player to demonstrate if you can't. The demo is often more explicit than a long speech to youth players.

      - correct : a technique form or a move. Don't let your players learn bad habits : repeating a bad form 100 times is useless. It's better to take the time to correct and make fewer good quality repetitions. Correct individually if you can.

      - advice : do not critizise but bring solutions without stopping the game or exercises every 2 minuts. Be brief, clear, precise and concise in your interventions.

Don't give all the solutions directly to your players. Make them think through the situations and problems they encounter. Have them involved and lead them to find the solutions by themselves.

Take care to use language and vocabulary adapted to the age group of the players you train. For example, don't ask to a U8 player to "switch field or to make chop ball or a long thru pass between 2 players". Use simple and significant words and introduce your players to the soccer vocabulary. Soccer vocabulary is part of the soccer culture that has to be taught to soccer players throughout the player development.
